British pianist and conductor ASHLEY BEAUCHAMP studied on the opera course of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. 2025/2026 highlights include assistant conductor for the world premiere of The Railway Children (Mark-Anthony Turnage) and conducting the One Voice Festival of Singing concerts both at Glyndebourne, conducting the world-premiere of a new opera by Charlotte Marlowe at Jersey Opera House, returning to Garsington Opera and recitals and an album recording with internationally-renowned flautist Stephen Clark

Ashley has a long relationship with Glyndebourne Opera. Productions include assistant conductor for Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini) for the Glyndebourne Festival; conducting the world premiere of glass human (Fernando) and assistant conductor for both La Traviata (Verdi) and L’elisir d’amore (Donizetti) for the Glyndebourne Tour. Ashley has also worked as assistant conductor and chorus master for the world premieres of Uprising (Dove) and Pay the Piper (Appleby, Cruttwell-Reade, Livingston & Robertson), conducting one performance of the latter. As a repetiteur, Ashley has worked on Don Pasquale (Donizetti) for the Glyndebourne Tour, and on the world-premieres of Lovers Walk (Styles), Tycho’s Dream(Styles), Nothing (Bruce), Belongings (Murphy), Agreed (Moody). Alongside his work on the main-stage, Ashley has been the Musical Director of the Glyndebourne Youth Opera Company since 2024, having worked with the group for 13 years. 

Ashley is Head of Music and Co-Director of the Young Artist Programme for Waterperry Opera Festival, having been with them since their inaugural season in 2017. At Waterperry, Ashley has conducted Hänsel und Gretel (Humperdinck), and was the Musical Director for their critically acclaimed touring production of Mansfield Park (Jonathan Dove). He has also worked on productions of Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), The Turn of the Screw (Britten), Così fan tutte (Mozart), Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), The Diary of One Who Disappeared (Janacek) and Carmen (Bizet). 2025 will see Ashley returning as Head of Music for their productions of Don Giovanni (Mozart), Semele (Handel) and a staged-production of Juliana Hall’s song-cycle A World Turned Upside Down: The Diary of Anne Frank. Ashley runs the Young Artist Programme at Waterperry with director Rebecca Meltzer. This programme offers young artists of varying disciplines, who are in the early or preparatory stages of a career in opera, the opportunity to join WOF’s professional company as part of its annual summer festival, and to develop areas of practice often not covered in a conventional conservatoire setting.

Previously, Ashley was Head of Music for Nevill Holt Opera, which saw him working as assistant conductor and chorus master on productions of La bohème (Puccini), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini) and La Cenerentola (Rossini) and working with their Associate and Emerging Artists throughout the season. 

For the Royal Ballet and Opera, Ashley has worked as repetiteur for a co-production of Gerald Barry’s The Intelligence Park (co-production between ROH Linbury / Music Theatre Wales), and was the repetiteur for current, rising (Fernando), the world’s first hyper-reality opera. He was also formerly an Associate Artist of the Royal Ballet and Opera Youth Opera Company.

For Garsington Opera, Ashley has worked as repetiteur for Fantasio (Offenbach) and Le comte Ory (Rossini) and as Chorus Master for their 2024 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Britten). He returned to Garsington in 2025 as Vocal Director and Presenter of their OperaFirst 2025 performance of Rodelinda (Handel). For Blackheath Halls Opera, Ashley has worked as assistant conductor for their productions of Carmen (Bizet), Der Freischütz (Weber) and La belle Hélène (Offenbach). 

Ashley is the Musical Director for Thames Opera Company (formerly the Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus). He is a guest musical director at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, has conducted opera scenes for the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and worked as a staff pianist for the Royal College of Music. Ashley also enjoys a busy recital schedule, and in 2025 gave his Wigmore Hall recital debut with mezzo-soprano Nancy Holt. In early 2026, Ashley will be performing at the Absolute Classics festival in Scotland alongside flautist Stephen Clark, ahead of an album recording later that year.
